4H Agility Seminar in Montauk, Long Island NY

May 20 2007

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, when the dogs and I drove out to Sharon Ferraro's house in Montauk to give a seminar for the local 4H kids, their dogs and the grown-ups,  in the afternoon.  I must say I have not been out there in years, so the drive for me was fun, beautiful and relaxing.  Yes, I know, relaxing, I left at the right time before the traffic.

Above is a shot Sharon took from her upper deck, looking down on her very nice agility set-up on the top of a hill with a great view of Lake Montauk in the background.  Sharon has Afghans which she shows in Conformation and takes classes in Agility in Holbrook on Monday.  Manny her newly crowned Champion will be a force to be reckoned with in the agility ring.  Below is a photo of Sharon and Manny showing you their great future in agility!

Sharon did a fantastic job organizing the whole event, from participants; human and canine, food, fun and lessons learned in dog training.  My dogs and I had a great time promoting our favorite sport to a new generation of agility handlers.

Here are some photos of some of the kids working their own dogs.  I was pleased with the care, happiness and concern that the kids showed the dogs while exposing most of them for the first time to agility equipment.  These 4H'rs have a great future if they choose to train the dogs and compete in agility.

A few of the kids did not have dogs attending the seminar, but Kane the Kelpie was more than willing to work for them for the almighty tennis ball.  This gave them a chance to try their hand at agility and dog training.  Kane was a very patient subject for the kids to get a chance to work with a trained agility dog.

Thank you Sharon, for giving me the opportunity to work with these nice kids and grownups.  It was a real treat for me and I hope we can do it again!
